FIFTY FOSTER FAMILIES FOR PULASKI COUNTY

written by Chris Larmoyeux, DMin, MDiv
Foster Care Strategist, Connected Foster Care

From the beginning, God’s plan has been to fill the earth with worshipers who know, love, and enjoy Him. His means to fulfill that plan is the family. The family is where we learn to love God and others. But Satan has had an agenda as well: to disrupt God’s plan by destroying families. Just like our “first family,” Adam an Even, families are still under attack. Consider this: a year ago there were 390 children in care in Pulaski County. That number now stands at 621.

The Good News is, through the cross and resurrection, Jesus defeated Satan, sin and death. We are invited to join Him in His work to share the Gospel message and see Him change lives. When I was approached by Derek about becoming the Foster Care Strategist for Pulaski County, I knew immediately God wanted me to join His Gospel-work here. He has prepared me as a collegiate minister and a pastor, where I witnessed the fallout of families in pain. But he also prepared me as a foster parent myself, as Tonya and I have opened our home to a child in crisis, and as a foster brother who shared my home with others for most of my childhood.

Our goal for 2021 is to identify 50 families God will call and raise up to serve as local missionaries right here in Pulaski County… to sacrificially love these children and meet this need. Finding 50 families is no small task. But as Arkansas Baptists, we have always been able to accomplish more together than we can alone. Connected Foster Care provides all the training, services and support required. I plan to meet with our pastors, staffs, churches, and individuals, trusting that if I simply share the need…God will meet the need. I can’t wait!
