He Is Risen and So Is Hope

 How One Young Man Found Jesus Through the Steady Love of a Foster Family

The resurrection of Christ isn’t just something we celebrate at Easter—it’s the reason we believe healing, restoration, and new life are possible, even in the hardest circumstances.

For one young adult in ABCFM foster care, that belief recently became reality.

He entered care just before turning 18 and has been with Connected for nearly three years. In October 2023, he moved in with his current foster family who had already raised children of their own and were enjoying life as grandparents. Even so, they felt led to open their home and give a teenager a support system to launch them into adulthood.

Though he had graduated high school, he still needed the kind of support, structure, and encouragement that only a committed family can provide.

And they were all in.

With the support of their Connected caseworker, they helped him keep a steady job (now more than two years strong), purchase a car, and enroll in college. He also began to thoughtfully reconnect with a few members of his biological family.

But the most beautiful milestone came recently—he decided to follow Christ.

It was a moment everyone hoped for, but no one pressured or expected. Just the steady presence of people living out their faith and showing him that he mattered. That he was seen. That he was loved.

That is resurrection. That is Easter. That is the power of the Gospel. And that’s what we get to witness through the work of foster care: lives restored, families strengthened, and hope resurrected.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.”
