What is Desired Haven Family Care?

Desired Haven is a program that teaches 7 areas of stability to help guide at-risk families to healthy futures. We equip local churches to serve families in need of the program by training advocates to provide a Christ-centered support system.

Who can apply?

Any at-risk or struggling family can call and apply for services. Those families may include:

  • Women with unexpected pregnancies

  • Biological parents of children in foster care

  • Single parents in need of stability and healthy skills

How do I apply?

You can inquire online at arkansasfamilies.org or you can call one of our Desired Haven numbers and speak to someone about our application process.

Jonesboro - 870-972-8779

Little Rock - 501-508-5310

Springdale - 479-361-3302

What does the program offer?

We provide families with a healthy support system by pairing them with an advocate and we train families in 7 areas of stability: spiritual, physical, and financial health, as well as parenting, relationships, housekeeping, and time management.

When necessary and available, we provide families with a safe and stable place to live as the mother works towards independent living. We have three housing locations that serve as a resource for Desired Haven Family Care (Jonesboro, Little Rock, and Springdale).

Is the family care home an emergency shelter?

No. A family must complete an application process and be approved for the family care home.

How much does it cost?

This program is free to at-risk families.

How long is the program?

It is our hope that the relationships developed between families and advocates would be lifelong. It is less of a “check all the boxes” type program and more of an “in it for the long-haul" type program.

Families typically reside in our family care homes for 12-18 months.

What if my family doesn’t qualify?

If you call and do not qualify for our advocacy program, we still want to work with you to connect you to other community resources that might be able to help.

What kind of goals does a family have?

Each family’s goals are individualized and focused on the specific areas that the family needs to address. Some individuals want to find employment and learn to budget within that amount of income. Some individuals want to pursue education. Most families work on financial, parenting, and time management goals as well.

I know someone that might be a good fit for the program, what should I do?

Feel free to give out our cards and phone numbers and encourage families to call and inquire about our program.
